They have a very good grip on the road and features which make them an excellent choice of wheelchair tyre.
Firstly, the smooth 2Grip sidewalls are completely hand friendly. Additionally, the side walls of the Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres are “anti-aging”. That means, they can hold up for much longer under the increased pressure which can result from not inflating the tyre sufficiently.
One of the most important features is that these tyres are truly flat-less. SmartGuard® is a 5-mm flexible protective belt made of a special Indian rubber along with recycled rubber. This provides the highest resistance to punctures, stopping sharp objects of up to 5-mm in length from puncturing the inner tube and giving you a tiresome and potentially dangerous flat tyre.
Black tyres have traditionally not been used for wheelchairs due to the unsightly skid marks which they can make on inside floors. However, these Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres are black tyres formed from a special compound named Black’n Roll. Not only will you never make a ghastly abrasive mark this material also lasts longer as it is far more robust than normal wheelchair tyres.
