Our VIGEO™ quick release wheelchair axel pins are available in a range of different sizes to cover all lengths needed. The standard diameter and thickness of wheelchair pins is 1/2 inch (12.7mm) and we can also supply 12mm diameter too. The length will be determined by a) the wheels you have and b) the make/model of wheelchair.
There is a small amount of adjustment that you can make on the pins and you can always use a spacer washer, which maybe of benefit if you would like more space on the inside of the wheel so the tyres are not as close to your side guards.

There are two thicknesses of pins available – 1/2 inch (12.7mm) and 12mm. There is only 0.7mm difference and this can sometimes cause some confusion because it is very difficult to measure using a ruler and eye – to measure properly you need a digital vernier
However most wheelchairs are the ‘standard’ 1/2 inch (12.7mm) – so if you have a Quickie, RGK or Kuschall wheelchair then the chances are you need 1/2 inch (12.7mm) quick release wheelchair pins. If you need help then call or email us and we can find out for you.
You need to measure from the nut below the button to the small little ball bearings near the end of the pin – see the diagram below the length of the pin is ‘L’.
If you are looking to buy wheelchair pins to use with other wheels to the ones you use normally with your wheelchair then you will need to take into consideration the hub width and if this is narrower or wider when compared to your normal wheels. Again we can help you so please contact us.
