TriRide MTW Trekking Power Wheels are brand new and a great additional option to your wheelchair and TriRide set-up. Each rear wheel has built in power motors and syncs to your front TriRide power attachment, so when you accelerate on the front the rear wheels also accelerate – along with the brake too!
MTW Trekking Power Wheels provide so much more traction as your weight is at the rear allowing you to access even more terrain. The TRIRIDE TREKKING POWER kit is easy to attach
to your wheelchair and connect to the front TriRide power attachment.
Out of all the front power attachments on the market the TriRide has by far the best in built technology to increase traction and reduce the front wheels spinning – but you cannot get away from the fact that the users weight is over the rear wheels and therefore sometimes the hill or terrain requires that extra traction just not possible to achieve.
What you really need is the ability to change your rear wheels to a pair of wheels with motors built into them that then connects to your front TriRide, syncing to it with the power and brakes. This is how the TriRide Trekking Wheels were born!
The Trekking wheels solve any traction issue and make your whole wheelchair more stable – it completes your set-up providing you with the ultimate power machine capable of doing every trip or adventure even better.

1. Performance & Torque:
– The MTW HT offers 110 Nm torque, delivering stronger pulling power. This makes it more suitable
for users who need extra support for steep inclines, rough terrain, or carrying heavier loads.
– The MTW Light provides 80 Nm torque. While lower, it is still highly capable for everyday use,
urban environments, and moderate outdoor conditions.
2. Weight:
– The MTW Light is approximately 1 kg lighter (9.6 kg) compared to the MTW HT (10.6 kg). This
weight reduction makes the Light easier to handle when attaching/detaching, lifting into a car, or
maneuvering in tight spaces.
– The HT, being slightly heavier, sacrifices some portability in exchange for its higher torque
capacity.
3. Price:
– The MTW Light is priced at £4,895, which is £305 less than the HT (£5,200). This makes the Light
a more budget-friendly option while still retaining most of the core features.
– The HT justifies its higher price with added torque and performance, making it better suited for
users prioritising power.
4. Use Case Positioning:
– MTW HT: Best for performance-driven users who expect to face challenging terrains, need
maximum pulling strength, or want the reassurance of higher torque capacity.
– MTW Light: Best for those who prioritise portability, easier handling, and lower cost, and do not
require maximum torque.
5. Shared Features:
– Both models include: modular self-supporting frame, traction selector (front/rear/all-wheel with
splitter), maximum power of 1000W, range of up to 50 km, lithium-ion batteries (36V or 48V), and a
broad range of accessories (wheels, joysticks, brakes, frame colour options).
At first slight it looks like you slot the wheels into your existing axel receivers on your wheelchair, but the TriRide power wheels are actually fitted already to a separate axel bracket that slots into a set of brackets fitted on your chair.
Imagine another set of the front clamps used to attach the TriRide on the underside – and then a bracket / axel with the wheels mounted that slots into these brackets similar tto the way it works at the front, but under your seat at the rear.
It’s actually a relatively easy process and the benefits are that it is easy to swap back to your everyday wheels and then when you are using the Trekking wheels slot them into palce, which is set further back than usual and with the option of an increased camber to provide even more stability.
