The Varilite Reflex Wheelchair Cushion is a non-adjustable wheelchair cushion which provides excellent pressure distribution for users with a moderate tissue breakdown risk. This cushion is made up of two different densities of foam. A firm foam around the outside and for the medial thigh separator provides support to maintain a stable seated position.
An air release valve with a pre-set pressure level allows the user to sink into the cushion enough to provide support, stability, and comfort. When the weight is removed the cushion re-inflates automatically.
A softer foam is used for the thighs and pelvic area for increased comfort, while a perforated foam provides maximum protection of the delicate ischial tuberosities area. The foam is bonded to a special fabric which allows it to hold air and this air-floatation system increases this cushion’s capacity for pressure distribution.
The air effectively supports the weight of the user, while the foam maintains the air in the parts where it is needed. This system also effectively reduces the vibrations and impacts felt by the user for a more comfortable ride.
The Varilite Reflex Wheelchair Cushion comes with an outer cover which is incontinence resistant and can be removed and machine washed. The top side is of a four-way stretch fabric which conforms perfectly to the contours of the cushion and the user for extra comfort. The underside is of a strong nylon material which is non-slip, and for added safety, the cushion is kept in place on the seat of the chair with a hook and loop system.
